Do matury zostało tylko 10 dni.
Zapewne nadal macie mnóstwo pytań, a czasu jest zbyt mało żeby pozbierać wszystkie źródła i poszukać odpowiedzi.

Postanowiliśmy pomóc Wam w ostatnich przygotowaniach, organizując Maturalny Marton Pytań.
Jeśli macie jakiekolwiek pytanie związane z językiem angielskim, prześlijcie je proszę w komentarzu. Do 4 maja będziemy odpowiadać na minimum 25 pytań dziennie.

Odpowiedzi na pytania będą dodawane w poście aby zachować porządek.

Nie ma głupich pytań. Od czasów Present Simple & Continuous do mieszanych trybów warunkowych - od nas dostaniecie pełne odpowiedzi wraz z przykładami i, jeśli potrzebujecie, dodatkowymi zadaniami.

  WASZE PYTANIA: 

 1  Pytanie: Mój korepetytor wyjechał, a poniższe zaznaczył mi jako błąd...
Myslałam, że między zdaniami różnica jest taka, że to pierwsze to czynność wykonywana co jakiś czas, a w drugim chodzi o czynność w danym momencie. Mam przy tym minus, więc chyba nie do końca...
1) I smell flowers in the garden.
2) I am smelling flowers in the garden.

O co w takim razie chodzi?

Odpowiedź: Smell należy to tzw. czasowników stanu (Stative Verbs). Mogłaś kiedyś słyszeć o tym, że niektóre czasowniki "nie lubią się" z czasem Present Continuous.
Po części jest to prawda.
Czasowniki takie jak smell, see, think, weigh, etc. można postawić w aspekcie Continuous, natomiast nie wyrażają one wtedy ciągłości czynności ani tego, że czynność ma miejsce w danym momencie. Ich znaczenie zmienia się z pasywnego w aktywne (nie mylić ze stroną bierną/czynną 😊).

Porównaj dwa przykłady:

• I taste cinnamon in this. It's delicious! (Czuję w tym cynamon)
• I'm tasting the cake to see if there's enough cinnamon in it.  (Próbuję ciasta)

Odnosząc się do Twojego przykładu:

• I smell flowers in the garden. (Czuję kwiaty)
• I am smelling flowers in the garden. (Wącham kwiaty) 

  2  Pytanie: Fajnie! To ja mam pytanie o sens życia. Żeby nie było - po angielsku. :)

 Odpowiedź: Well, that's really simple. 42. 😊

On one hand good look definitely helps in the process of finding a good job, especially if you want to work with customers. On the other hand today's labour market is shifting towards meritocracy where appearance is not so important. Think about IT or engineering. Bill Gates in not necessarily handsome, yet he's a billionaire. 😊

 2) Is there a dress code at your school? Should there be one? Why?/why not?
There's no dress code at my school and I'm really happy about it. I agree with the argument that school is not an appropriate place for showing students' individuality by extravagant clothes they wear, but the approach to this problem is not the best either.
Students should be educated what is appropriate and what is not and it's the task for parents to teach them how to behave in public spaces. Bans will only encourage students to break them.

3) Do you think the men in your country care about the way they look? What about women?
I believe that generally both genders care about their look, but they approach this issue in different ways.
Women pay a lot of attention to their appearance, make-up and clothing. They care about feminine features such as groomed hair, nails and healthy skin.
Men tend to pay more attention to basic things like clothes cleanliness or formality of clothing, but they are not detail oriented.

4) Do you like visiting historical buildings? Why?/why not? 
I like visiting historical buildings and I believe it is the best way to learn about the history and understand it.
It's difficult to imagine various historical events when reading only brief descriptions in a history handbook.
However I strongly dislike visiting such places with a guide. I prefer to discover historical sites' wonders on my own.

 5) What usually happens in a haunted place? What can you see or hear?
I don't believe in haunted places, but I know some people do. Usually they claim that they have heard strange noises such as chain rattling or heavy footsteps. Some people feel incredibly cold without any particular reason. Other people insist they have seen a shadow of a person or objects moving without anyone touching them.
I am not superstitious, but I can understand that some people genuinely believe in ghosts.
Those stories show how fascinating our imagination can be. If it weren't for this, we wouldn't have fairy tales and fascinating books, which were inspired by our inner fears and beliefs in a magical side of a universe.



  4  Pytanie: To ja mam pytanie: Jak to jest z szykiem wyrazów w zdaniu? Normalnie gdy jest słówko pytające WH, to wiem, ale gdy mam zbudować indirect question to się gubię.
Przykład, która z tych wersji jest poprawna i dlaczego?
Can you tell me, where is the post?
Can you tell me, where the post is?

I jeszcze jedno:
dlaczego jak mówimy
I don't know what are you talking about, nie mogę powiedzieć I don't know about what are you talking?

Ostatnie: Jaka jest prawidłowa konstrukcja I have difficulty?
1. i have difficulty in doing sth
2. I have difficulty with doing sth
3 . I have difficulties doing sth
4. I have difficulties in doing sth, a może jeszcze inna?

Odpowiedź:
1) Indirect questions to jeden z moich ulubionych tematów, ponieważ każdy się na nim wykłada (z anglistami włącznie). 😊

Pytanie nie-wprost to w zasadzie pytanie w pytaniu. Zapewne pamiętasz zakaz stosowania podwójnego przeczenia; z pytaniami jest bardzo podobnie (co za dużo to niezdrowo).
Takie pytanie składa się z dwóch elementów:
Introductory phrase: Np. Can you tell me... | I'd like to know... | Do you know... | I wonder...
Indirect question: Faktyczne pytanie zadane w formie zdania twierdzącego (podmiot poprzedza orzeczenie).

Stąd też poprawną wersją pytania będzie: Can you tell me where the post is?

2)  I don't know about what are you talking? 
Jedyne co mi nie pasuje to typ pytania, a powinno to być Indirect Question. Poprawnie powinno brzmieć:
I don't know about what you are talking.
Jeśli chodzi o pozycję about, to poprawnie jest postawić je i przed what i na końcu zdania - jak komu wygodniej. Wersja z about what brzmi nieco formalniej i jest nieco przestarzała (choć kiedyś to właśnie about na końcu prowokowało zmarszczoną brew rozmówcy).

Mnie natomiast zawsze uczono, że "A prepostion is not something to end a sentence with." 😊

4. I have difficulties in doing sth, a może jeszcze inna?- correct 😊

A najprościej: I have difficulty doing sth.
